A MAN has been found dead after falling from a cliff – the second incident in less than a week.
Emergency services were called to the cliffs in Eastbourne, near Belle Tout Lighthouse, on Tuesday, April 5.
Police said officers responded after reports of a man having fallen from the cliffs at about 4.40pm.
The coastguard conducted a search of the area and located the man’s body. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
“There appear to be no suspicious circumstances,” a police spokesman said.
The RNLI Eastbourne said a volunteer crew were paged at about 5pm.
They were requested to launch their inshore lifeboat and tasked to assist police, the coastguard rescue helicopter and local coastguards with the incident to the east of the Belle Tout Lighthouse.
“There will be no further details due to the sensitive nature of the call,” a spokesman said.
The death follows a similar incident on Saturday, April 2.
Police said a man was seen to fall from the cliffs by a member of the public and was confirmed dead at the scene.
