POLICE closed a road last night after receiving a report that someone may have been hit by a car.
The A23 was closed southbound for around 45 minutes so police could check if someone had “come to harm” next to the road at Hickstead, near Burgess Hill.
The road was closed at 12.45am on Saturday, April 2. It was reopened at 1.30am after “all was found to be in order” with no person found injured.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly after midnight on Saturday, April 2, police were called by a member of the public who believed a person had come to harm near the A23 at Hickstead.
“The road was temporarily closed to allow officers to safely assess the situation.
“All was found to be in order, with no person injured. The call was made with good intent and officers stood down.”
