A HOTEL has launched an appeal to collect donations of essential goods to send to Ukrainian refugees at the Polish border.
The Grand, on Brighton seafront, has called on people to drop off a range of items, including blankets, sleeping bags, medicines and food, as part of a campaign to help those who have fled the conflict starting next Sunday.
A spokeswoman from the hotel said that staff had been “deeply saddened to watch recent events unfold in Ukraine.”
She said: “We have been so proud of the local community with people giving generously to the cause and we are delighted to be working with Gold Key Media, a company that provides the complimentary magazines and newspapers to our guests, to get essential goods over to the refugees in Poland.”
The hotel is urging anyone who wants to donate to their cause to drop off items from Sunday, March 27 to Sunday, April 7.
Full list of items requested
- Large items: blankets, towels, duvets, warm clothes, medium/large sized backpacks, camping mats, sleeping bags, warm blankets
- Smaller items: gloves, bandages, can openers, power banks, mens socks, thermal/base layers, hot water bottles, insulated flasks, nappies, sanitary products
- Medicine: Calpol, paracetamol, painkillers, anti-flu medicine, wound dressing materials, first aid kits
- Food: dried food (eg. rice and pasta), canned food, tea/coffee, baby formula, protein/energy bars
