What is the best shop in Sussex?
“I do still love The Lanes in Brighton very much. Those are great shops to poke around in.
“And it’s nice to see the vitality of all the young folk there – even if they are a bit oddly dressed sometimes and covered in tattoos.
“I still feel like there is a degree of youth and vitality and optimism to be found in that neighbourhood.”
Whether it be for a concert, comedy or theatre, what is the best venue around?
“It’s one of the great strengths of Brighton - you can come out of the Brighton Dome and go in The Waggon and Horses for a pint afterwards to debrief on whatever it is you just saw.
“That’s a great tradition.”
If you’re looking to escape the city, what is your favourite outdoors place to visit?
“Just outside Brighton, walking up the banks of the river in Shoreham, which I have done on many occasions, can be absolutely beautiful when the sun is in the right mood, the sky is clear, the river is quite broad.
“It’s very, very beautiful up there and a great walk.
“There are also some lovely bluebell woods near Stanmer Park where I like walking the dog.”
Whether it be for a drink or a sit-down meal, what is the best bar, pub or restaurant in Sussex?
“We do like going to The Ram Inn in Firle. That’s probably our favourite grown up pub and eating place.
“In The Lanes, there are a lot of great boozers as well.”
If you were going for a coffee and a cake with a friend from out of town, where would you take them in Sussex?
“Mostly what I know in Sussex is in Brighton and Hove.”
