A ROAD closed after a swing bridge became “stuck” which caused severe delays.
Newhaven swing bridge’s barriers were said to have become “stuck down” which halted any traffic from coming through.
The incident was first reported just after 10am this morning, with delays already stretching back to Peacehaven eastbound and past Bishopstone, near Seaford, westbound.
Brighton and Hove Buses 12 services were forced to divert along the A27 while the bridge was closed. They have now resumed their normal route.
Engineers have now fixed the technical issues and the bridge has reopened to traffic. Delays, which were around 20 minutes, are easing on both sides.
Newhaven Port Authority has been approached for comment.
