A University of Sussex student is set to appear on BBC's Dragons' Den. 

The founder of the empowering book subscription service, Molly Masters, made the announcement quite fittingly on World Book Day. 

The English Literature student came up with the idea back in her second year of university.

Since 2020, it brought together an online community of 66,000 members with between three to four thousand regular subscribers.

Books That Matter appears on Dragons' Den

Making the announcement to her followers, Ms Masters remarked that it was "the most exciting opportunity that has happened" to her business. 

The businesswoman added: "Whilst I cannot share anything about what happened in the Den, I can't wait for you to watch it! I promise it will make for very exciting viewing! Thank you all so much for supporting Books That Matter, cheerleading us through the years, being such an amazing community  We could not have done this without you!"

What is Books That Matter?

Books That Matter is a monthly subscription service that includes "couldn’t-put-it-down books by female authors, and indulgent gifts."

When you look inside each box you'll discover a book by an inspiring female author and gifts from female-owned brands to help create a perfect space for reading.

Talking about Books That Matter's origins, the entrepreneur wrote on her website: "After years of obligatory study of curriculums full of male authors, I was delighted to be introduced to a myriad of female authors and their diverse stories. I felt excited, seen, enlightened, and yet it did not sit right with me that these books were ones I did not know as ‘classics’ or household names before I came to higher education.

Ms Masters added: "I defiantly decided to start Books That Matter, and create a platform and a product that made these books accessible and enjoyable for all, and made a tangible difference to the publishing industry and the demand for women’s writing."

Subscriptions start from just £15 and can be purchased via the Books That Matter website.

Dragons Den airs on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
