A RENOWNED DJ has been announced as a headliner for a huge seafront music festival.
Following a sold-out debut last year, On The Beach is set to return to Brighton in July.
Hove musician Carl Cox has been confirmed as one of the headliners of the event. He will perform on Saturday, July 23.
Organisers have also announced a host of other acts who are due to perform at the festival, including Andy C, Sub Focus, Wilkinson, Shy FX, Dimension, Friction and Harriet Jaxxon.
More musicians and the exact location of the festival will be announced soon.
A spokesman for the event said following a successful set at last year’s event on Marine Parade, the award-winning DJ Carl Cox will perform on Brighton beach again.
“The big man with the bigger smile has for years been a kingpin in Ibiza at clubs like Space, and tours the world’s best clubs on a non-stop basis with his dexterous DJ style mixing up both classics and cutting edge new sounds, as well as plenty of the music he releases on his own Intec label,” he said.
“There are few bigger names in electronic music than this legend, and to see him play on the beach in the open air will be historic indeed.”
Tickets for the drum and bass festival went on on sale on Wednesday, March 9.
“With the beach beneath your feet and the beats raining down on you from the towering main stage, this is a perfect open-air party away in a gorgeous location with views out over the sea,” the festival spokesman previously aid.
“As the afternoon slowly turns to evening and the sun sets, it provides a stunning backdrop while world's best DJs will match the mood with a forward thinking soundtrack and the big screens immerse you in a world of visuals.”
The final day of last year’s festival was cancelled due to “extreme weather”.
Pendulum, Hybrid Minds ft Tempza, Dimension, Friction ft Linguistics, Kyrist, Mollie Collins, Kaz B2B North Base and DJ Inter were due to perform.
