A SEAFRONT promenade known for its light shows has been damaged during Storm Eunice.
Hastings Borough Council confirmed that the nightly light show in Bottle Alley, Hastings, is unable to go ahead due to the storm, which was dubbed one of the worst to hit the UK in a generation.
A council spokesman said: “Sadly, due to Storm Eunice, Bottle Alley lights were damaged, and they are no longer able to display the nightly light show.
“We are working to repair the fault and will provide an update as soon as they are working again.”
Bottle Alley, a 480 metre lower deck promenade, runs from the Hastings pier to Warrior Square.
In 2015, the council secured £50,000 worth of funding for restoration work, including updating the framework and installing new, multi-coloured, programmable lighting.
Work was completed in 2017.
The alley has been used as a set for shows including Channel 4’s Close to Me, starring Christopher Eccleston, the film Is Anybody There, starring Michael Caine and Roadkill starring Hugh Laurie.
Bottle Alley light show usually goes ahead twice daily – once at 7.30pm and again at 9.30pm.
There is also an extended 30-minute show every Friday.
