POLICE officers are still at the scene of a house fire in which an elderly couple died.
Sussex Police confirmed it was continuing to investigate the fire at a house in Theobalds Road, following the fatal fire on Sunday morning.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police officers remain at the scene with the fire service as the investigation continues into the cause of the fire.”
A man and woman in their 70s were found in the property by emergency services.

The next of kin have been informed by the coroner, a police spokesman said.
"Emergency services were called to reports of a house fire in Theobalds Road in Burgess Hill shortly after midnight on Sunday, February 20,” the spokesman said.
"Police attended to support the fire service, and two people – a man and a woman in their 70s - were sadly found dead at the scene.
"Their next of kin have been informed.”
The Coroner’s Office has been notified and work is underway to establish the full circumstances of the situation.
