NHS services have urged people to take care if they need to travel today, but GP and hospital appointments have still been operating as normal.

Health services in Sussex have still been provided for those in need and anyone unable to travel safely to attend appointments were urged to get in touch to let them know as early as possible.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust contacted patients with appointments or home visits planned for today that were affected by disruption from Storm Eunice and has moved face to face appointments virtually were possible.

 

Staff were not travelling to non-essential appointments until after the red weather warning was lifted at 3pm, but community visits continued all day for clinically critical care, including time-sensitive medication administration and end of life care.

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust ran outpatient clinics as normal today and asked people to attend appointments if they were able to travel safely.

However, Churchill Square vaccination centre was forced to close earlier today as a result of the treacherous conditions.

An amber warning remains in place for much of England and Wales until 9pm this evening.
