A RED weather warning for the effects of Storm Eunice has expired - but conditions are still set to remain treacherous until later this evening.
Sussex, along with London and the rest of south east England, was issued with the alert over fears that the storm could pose a "danger to life".
Gusts of up to 80mph have been felt across parts of the coast, transport across the county has been disrupted and thousands have been left without power.
Trees have been uprooted, crushing vehicles and obstructing train lines, and fish have even been spotted along the coast, having been thrown from the water by the speed of the wind.
Aircraft trying to land at Gatwick Airport have also faced difficulty due to adverse weather conditions, with one plane being forced to return to Bordeaux after two attempts to land.
An amber warning for wind remains in place by the Met Office until 9pm this evening, with warnings of falling trees, large waves and damage to buildings and homes.
