He has now revealed his favourite spots in Sussex in a segment on The Argus Podcast called Five of the Best.

If you were going for a coffee and a cake with a friend from out of town, where would you take them in Sussex?
“It would have to be within Sidley because the village I represent is the best in the world for anything – particularly coffee.
“We have several really nice coffee shops in Sidley High Street – in particular Earls Mercantile. They’re an incredible little coffee shop with a very strong environmental focus.
“They’ve put solar panels on their roof, a lot of their electricity is eco-generated.
“As a vegan myself, they do a lot of vegan cakes which are nice. And I love a good cake.”
What is the best shop in Sussex?
“Shamefully, I’m of a generation where online shopping has become a habit. But I still think it’s very important to support local high streets.
“There is a shop in Hastings which does some really cool not mystical things, but little quaint antiques, figurines and interesting products you don’t mind anywhere else.”
Whether it be for a concert, comedy or theatre, what is the best venue around?
“We have the De La Warr Pavilion on our seafront. It’s a lovely building and the theatre itself is really nice – I’ve performed there myself with local community theatre groups and concerts.
“I really like the White Rock Theatre in Hastings. A lot of the theatres in Eastbourne are really pretty and really nice too.
“The Stables Theatre in Hastings is probably my favourite. That’s where I did my mentalism show.”
If you’re looking to escape the city, what is your favourite outdoors place to visit?
“I like the Bluebell Woods, especially when it’s the time of year when all the bluebells are sprouting.
“It’s really tranquil. I like walking my dogs through there.
“Because Bexhill is an urban area in a rural district, the northern part of Sidley is actually quite rural.
“There’s a lot of natural, really beautiful places including the Combe Valley Countryside Park, which is a really pretty place to walk.”
And lastly, whether it be for a drink or a sit-down meal, what is the best bar, pub or restaurant in Sussex?
“I have to go with The New Inn in Sidley as my favourite – it’s a really nice historical pub.
“If you’re going out out as they say, the clubs in Hastings are really cool.
“There’s a new club which opened recently called Dr Jekylls and they do freakshow nights, drag, cabaret and variety shows.
“There’s a place called Rocksalt On Sea in Bexhill which does really nice, forward thinking meals and a little café called Wickham Bistro, which does really nice vegan food.”
