Five restaurants in Sussex have been included in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2022.
The Michelin Guide is produced by the French tyre company Michelin, which has been going since 1904, and can award up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments.
This is a highly coveted award in the culinary world, with even those getting two or one stars being well-commended.
No new restaurants in the county were recognised for Michelin stars, but several did retain their place on the list for having one Michelin star.
They were Gravetye Manor in East Grinstead, Interlude in Lower Beeding and Restaurant Tristan in Horsham.
Gravetye Manor's restaurant is attached to its hotel, with every single ingredient they use either having been grown in their Kitchen Garden, or sourced from a trusted, local supplier.
Restaurant Interlude is another establishment that sources most of its ingredients from its own gardens or specialist suppliers and bases its multi-course menu around the changing season.
Finally, Restaurant Tristan prides itself on its comfortable and informal setting.
Additionally, Tillingham in Peasmarsh was recognised in the Michelin Green Star restaurants category which highlights restaurants at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices.
Meanwhile, Burnt Orange in Brighton and Hollist Arms in Lodsworth being included in the Bib Gourmand category.
Named after Bibendum – the Michelin Man – the Bib Gourmand distinction highlights restaurants offering good food at competitive prices.
