ARRESTS for assault, harassment and theft led to police cells reaching capacity over the weekend.
Police received more than 100 emergency calls and 60 priority calls in Worthing and Horsham over the weekend of February 12 and 13.
Among the offence were a dozen assaults on police officers.
“From kicking and spitting to biting and head butting and numerous others with cuts and scrapes from suspects not willing to come willingly to custody,” a police spokesman said.
“Thankfully no one was badly injured.”
Other arrests were made for offences including theft, domestic abuse, assault, harassment, failing to appear at court, driving offences and more.
As a result, the custody block was filled to capacity with arrested suspects.
Adur and Worthing Police also found six missing people, and continue to search for others.
“We have also engaged with licensed premises and checked the safety of vulnerable people in the night time economy and taken some home to ensure they are safe,” the police spokesman added.
“As the new week begins, new teams will come in and start taking the calls and attending the incidents through valentine’s day and beyond.”
If you witness any crime, information can be reported online or call 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
