A MAN has avoided jail after racially assaulting a man and spitting at a security guard.
Brett Rhodes was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for nine months, for racially assaulting Arnold Fobasso in North Street, Brighton on April 23, 2021.
The 26-year-old also assaulted a security guard by spitting at him and punching him.
He pleaded not guilty to both offences, but was found guilty at trial.
Rhodes, of Grand Parade, Brighton, avoided jail, but was giving a curfew between 8pm and 6am for four weeks and must wear an electronic monitoring tag.
He was also ordered to pay £150 compensation.
