A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence and a restraining order following a persistent campaign of stalking and harassment.
Paul Mason was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after being found guilty of stalking without fear, alarm or distress at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 26.
Between September 9 and December 13, 2020, the 57-year-old stalked and harassed his victim by posting comments on her Facebook profile and sending friend requests to members of her family.
Mason, of Juliet Street, Ashington, Northumberland, also turned up at his victim’s home in Eastbourne on two different occasions and sent items to her home five separate times.
The court heard that the defendant’s actions, committed over a long period of time, had a “grave impact” on his victim.
He has also given a ten-year restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victim or members of her family.
Mason was ordered to pay costs of £200 and a surcharge of £128.
