A NEW retirement development in a seaside town has been given the go-ahead.
The McCarthy Stone development, in Goring, has been approved by Worthing Borough Council and will exclusively house people over 60.
It will consist of 35 one and two bedroom apartments and feature a range of communal facilities for residents, such as a communal lounge, gardens and associated parking.
The company says there is a significant need to provide "suitable and exciting" choices in the type of housing available for older people in Goring.
McCarthy Stone’s approved plans would increase choice for older homeowners who wish to live in their own home, with access to a "warm, fun, and caring" community of neighbours.
The approved plans would also help to address needs in the wider housing market, by freeing up homes further down the chain for families and first-time buyers.
The construction of the development is set to begin in Autumn 2022.
