COMMUNITIES have been invited to “commit to the knit” as a charity launches its woolly hat social media campaign.

Worthing homeless charity Turning Tides is set for its annual fundraiser, Woolly Hat Day, seeing participants don knitted headgear to raise money.

On Friday, February 18, Turning Tides hopes to make a stand against homelessness, asking people to share images of knitted garments on social media.

Sophie Moore, fundraising officer at Turning Tides, said: “We believe everyone has the right to a home, and as the harsh winter months continue, it becomes increasingly vital that everyone has the safety, warmth and comfort that a home provides.

“Through the generosity of our community, and their involvement in events such as Woolly Hat Day, we can transform the lives of those experiencing the dangers and uncertainty of homelessness.”

Sophie is encouraging people to post the images of themselves on their social media accounts, along with the hashtag #woollyhatday2022, and donate either by phone or through the charity’s website.
