AN INCIDENT has caused major railway delays and cancellations.
Emergency services were called to deal with an incident at Hastings railway station at 10.50am on Friday, February 4.
The power to trains was switched off as a result of the incident.
Southern Rail announced that trains on a number of routes were delayed or cancelled.
These included trains going to or from Brighton, Eastbourne, London Bridge, Hastings, Ashford International and Ore.
“We've been advised that the electricity supply to trains has been switch off as a safety precaution,” a Southern Rail spokeswoman said.
“Trains are now at a stand. You should delay travelling until a bit later if you can. The line between Bexhill and Ore is blocked in both directions.”
Trains that run to and from Hastings and Ore may finish at and start from Bexhill instead, while trains to and from Ashford International will run between Rye and Ashford International.
Those travelling between Ore and Hastings can use Stagecoach routes 20 and 22 to complete their journey, but will need to purchase a bus ticket and keep hold of this to submit to the customer relations team for reimbursement.
