PICTURES how a car crashed into a lamppost - with witnesses claiming a pedestrian was almost knocked down.

The Volkswagen Polo was involved in a crash near Durrington Tesco car park in New Road earlier today.

Witnesses say the vehicle "just missed" a pedestrian.

Pictures show emergency services on the scene.

The incident has caused disruption to traffic in the area.

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
