A CHURCH has been awarded funds by Sussex Police to help with its ongoing community work.

St Luke’s Church in Stone Cross, Eastbourne, has been awarded £500 from the Police Property Act Fund to go towards the support work through its Church and Parish Centre.

PC Zachary Hayns and PCSO Daryl Holter met with church warden Imogen Lade to present the funds and discuss the community work carried out by the church.

Father James Vine said: “This funding will support all users of our Church and Parish Centre.

"Recent building work has been necessary to enable its future use and we thank Sussex Police for this generous donation.”

St Lukes provides a weekly foodbank service in partnership with Eastbourne Foodbank, actively engages with schools, youth groups and community in the parish and provides a "safe and trusted" space for all members of the community.

PCSO Holter said: “I’m really pleased to have been able to help secure this funding, which will help make a difference to so many people in our community.”
