COMMUTERS are being offered discounts on buses in the city for those returning to the office to work.

From today, Brighton and Hove Buses have introduced a special weekly capped rate of £19 for the next few weeks for passengers using their "tap on tap off" contactless payment system.

People can travel as often as they like from Monday to Sunday and only expect to pay up to £19 when paying in this way.

Nick Hill, commercial director of Brighton and Hove Buses, said: "The way people work and live their lives has changed so much since the start of the pandemic We wanted to provide a quick and easy way to travel that reflects these changes yet still offers excellent value for money.

"With contactless tap on tap off, our customers don't need to plan their journeys in advance and will pay a lower price each day.

"With high frequency services on many of our routes and a no hassle way to pay things couldn't be easier.

"That's why we have introduced a discounted daily cap with tap on, tap off contactless and a super launch price of just £19 per week."

The discount commuters can benefit from increases the more days you travel in a week.

While there is no discount if a passenger meets a single daily cap once in a week, if they meet a second daily cap, there is a five per cent discount for that day. This increases to ten per cent if they meet a third daily cap and to 15 per cent for a fourth.

Once a passenger reaches the price of a weekly ticket at £19 the rest of the week is free.

A CitySAVER is currently £ and a NetworkSAVER costs £ .

To use the "tap on tap off" system, passengers can tap their Visa, Mastercard, Google or Apple Pay on a card reader as they get on the bus and tap off as they leave.

The offer is available for three weeks until February 20 for both CitySAVER and NetworkSAVER journeys.
