A Sussex gastropub has been named among the best in the UK according to the Estrella Damm Gastropubs Awards.
The Urchin in Hove placed in the 51-100 category, coming in 86th place in the list.
The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards is created each year by an academy of several hundred judges spread throughout the UK who voted for who they think are the must-see gastropubs.
The academy is made up of food industry experts, chefs, operators, food writers, and journalists, all of whom keep a close eye on the market and the trends within.
For this year's iteration, The Urchin was included and has drawn in praise for its seafood dishes and craft beers.
What does The Urchin have to offer?
The kitchen for the Urchin is only open from Wednesday during the week, but the food is undoubtedly worth the wait if you seek it out.
For example, rock oysters with champagne mignonette is a favourite, as well as Moules mariniere, Malaysian prawns, and a whole crab with lovage and wild garlic butter.
Other highlights have included seaweed hash browns with smoked mussel aioli, heritage radish misozuke, and the Urchin kimchi.
