A MAN has been arrested after a stolen car crashed and the driver fled.
Police were called to a report of a stolen car from Ashford Road in Hastings on Friday morning.
Shortly after 9am, the car was spotted heading towards Herstmonceux, where it was involved in a collision with another car on the A271.
The driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene.
Officers attended and conducted an area search.
A man was found nearby and arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
Sussex Police said he is assisting officers with their enquiries.
Photos taken at the scene of the crash show two cars severely damaged. Both have since been moved from the road.
Anyone who saw what happened or who has any information relating to the theft or the collision is asked to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 191 of 14/01.
