A MAN has died after falling from a flat in a seafront road.
Crews from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service as well as officers from Sussex Police and the ambulance service responded to the incident in Holland Road, Hove, near the Audrey's Chocolates shop.
The road was blocked while emergency services attended the incident.
Sussex Police have now confirmed a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman said: “At 1.05pm on Sunday, January 2, emergency services were called to Holland Road, Hove, after a report that a man had fallen from a flat and sustained injuries.
“He was confirmed deceased at the scene.
"Circumstances being investigated.”
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was assisting Sussex Police at the scene and said that the force was leading the response.
A man who lives in Holland Road said the police cordon along the street meant he had to be escorted to his flat by police officers.
He said a forensic tent had been put in place and crime scene investigators in white coats were working at the scene.
He said: "I left my house at about half 12 and the tent was up when I returned an hour later.
"We had to be escorted back into our house by police.
"I saw an investigator in a white coat walking up into the tarpaulin tent which had been put up covering the pavement and the front door to the flats."
