2021 has had no shortage of news and Brighton is no exception.

10. Katie Price rushed to hospital after ‘drink-drive’ crash near Partridge Green
KATIE Price has reportedly been rushed to hospital after a “drink-drive” crash that could leave her facing jail time.
The Brighton-born celebrity, who is understood to be banned from driving, is said to be in hospital after the crash on the B2135 near Partridge Green, on Tuesday, September 28.
Police arrested the 43-year-old reality star for alleged drink-driving, according to The Sun.
9. Covid: Holidays to start in May with traffic light system
THE PRIME Minister is set to give the go-ahead for foreign holidays as part of a new traffic light system for travellers, it has been reported.
Countries will be assessed according to their vaccination programme, infection rates and size of known variants before being given the "green light" to travel.
According to the MailOnline, the system means Boris Johnson is set to resume holidays abroad from May 17.
8. Brighton couple move into their horsebox home they built from scratch
An enterprising couple have transformed a horsebox into a stylish home - completely from scratch.
Faced with the struggle of saving for a mortgage while paying high rents in Brighton, Sophie Frykfors and Lalli Castiglione decided to look into alternative forms of living.
The creative pair had previously been thinking about buying a property in the city, but decided there was little appeal in being tied down with a mortgage and a large debt.
7. Giant 'prehistoric' seagull poses 'no danger' to small dogs
A WILDLIFE rescue expert has told dog owners they have nothing to fear after a huge seagull was seen devouring a pigeon.
Roger Musselle, who runs Roger’s Wildlife rescue in Woodingdean, said the "prehistoric" black backed gull filmed devouring a pigeon in a children's playground is not the "evil menace that some people seem to think".
In the video, taken on Wednesday, May 5, the large bird can be seen walking over to the pigeon before picking it up and swallowing it whole.
6. 'Killer whales' spotted off coast of Brighton
THERE is excitement among wildlife experts after a possible killer whale sighting was reported off the coast of Brighton.
A pod of what Sussex Dolphin Project believe could be female orcas were spotted shortly after midday on Thursday in Telscombe.
Onlooker Grant Winter saw between four and six of the elusive creatures heading west towards Brighton.
5. Four-day Bank Holiday weekend to mark Queen's platinum jubilee
There will be an extra Bank Holiday to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The nation will be able to come together and celebrate the monarch's 70-year reign over the course of a four-day weekend.
The May Bank Holiday weekend in 2022 will be moved to Thursday, June 2, and there will be an additional Bank Holiday on Friday, June 3, to celebrate her Majesty hitting this milestone.
4. Michele Spicer evicted from beach hut in Goring near Worthing
A WOMAN is outraged after being kicked out of her beach hut following a string of complaints - the first time the council has evicted anyone from the seafront in 25 years.
Michele Spicer only bought her beach hut in Goring last year, but the council has already taken action, changing the locks to stop her returning to Sea Place.
The actress and model said she spent hours restoring her "mermaid haven," only to get into a row with neighbours over parking which led to complaints of "anti-social behaviour".
3. Pictures: Thousands flock to Brighton seafront to enjoy heatwave
THESE pictures show a rammed Brighton beach as thousands of people basked in 25C amid a nationwide heatwave.
Swimmers, sunbathers and cliff jumpers all descended onto the seafront yesterday just days before so-called "freedom day".
Pictures taken from the seafront on Satruday revealed the scale of the crowds that gathered to enjoy the sun, as people from across the city baked in the sun.
