POLICE say no reports have been received in connection with social media posts alleging a spiking incident at a popular nightclub.
An online post claimed a clubber at Pryzm in West Street, Brighton, had been spiked with a needle on Friday.
A spokeswoman for Pryzm said onsite medics treated a guest who suspected they had been spiked by injection and that an onsite drugs test came back negative.
She said: “We are aware that at the moment there is a lot of concern regarding drink spiking – both locally and nationally.
“This is something we at Pryzm Brighton take very seriously and feel passionately that everyone should feel safe on a night out, and they should feel safe in our club.
“We offer anti-spiking devices and operate 100 per cent searches on entry, which also includes ID scanners and metal detector arches.
“We have extensive CCTV coverage throughout the venue that we will pass on to the police to help with any investigation.
“Anyone who is suspected of spiking will be detained and handed over to the police.
“We would encourage anyone who sees suspicious behaviour, or suspects they have been a victim of spiking, to seek immediate assistance from a member of staff or security, who are trained to help and who also have the support of our onsite medics.”
Sussex Police said they did not receive any reports of needle spiking from that night and urged anyone who thinks they have been spiked to report it.
A spokesman for the force said: “We have not received any reports of needle sticking at Pryzm on that date.
“Anybody who believes they may have been a victim should let police or bar staff know as soon as possible so they can be tested before potential drugs leave their system and evidence can be gathered.
“Reports can also be made to police online, via 101 or by dialling 999 in an emergency.”
