A COUNCIL meeting was suspended after a councillor tested positive for Covid-19.
A full meeting of Brighton and Hove City Council had been taking place this evening at Brighton Town Hall but, after returning from a prolonged adjournment for a refreshment break, the decision was made to suspend the rest of the meeting.
Addressing the councillors, Mayor Alan Robins said: "A councillor has tested positive whilst we've been in, so we are now going to draw the meeting to a close."
Remaining business has been adjourned until the next meeting, with a time-sensitive motion on fair trade passing unanimously and without debate.
The news comes as UK cases of Covid-19 surpassed 50,000 for the first time in three months.
