PICTURES taken at the scene show the scale of a blaze that engulfed a sawmill near Horsham last night.
Fire crews were called at 5.52pm yesterday evening and ten pumps, including a water tanker, were called to tackle the flames in Five Oaks, north of Billingshurst.
The fire broke out at a single storey agricultural building used for wood storage in Haven Road.
Multiple crews tackled the blaze and another building close by, used for the storage of agricultural machinery, was also involved in the incident.
A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said teams from Horsham, Crawley, Dorking, Storrington, Billingshurst, Pains Hill and Turners Hill attended the scene.
Water carriers from Guildford, Burgess Hill and Leatherhead, plus the command unit from Reigate. Relief crews included from Petworth, East Preston, Haywards Heath, Steyning and Hurstpierpoint.
West Sussex Fire urged people to stay away from the area at 8.15pm yesterday.

It said: “Multiple crews are tackling a blaze at a sawmill/single storey agricultural building used for wood storage in Haven Road, near the junction with the A29 Stane Street in Five Oaks."
Parts of the A29 were closed from 6.20pm while firefighters attended the scene. It has now reopened.

In an update, the fire service have said this morning: "Crews from Midhurst and Worthing currently remain in attendance and are damping down hotspots."
