GRAHAM Potter is reportedly one of many shortlisted managers to replace Steve Bruce at Newcastle United following the takeover of the club.

But according to recent betting odds, there are eight managers more likely to join the Magpies than the Brighton and Hove Albion boss.

Newcastle United were sold by long-time owner Mike Ashley last week to a Saudi-backed consortium for a fee of around £305 million.

The new owners wealth mean Newcastle is now the richest football club in the world.

Following the takeover, Albion manager Graham Potter was reportedly identified as a candidate for the club.

But according to Sky Bet, Potter is ninth in the list of potential candidates.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers currently tops the list with odds of 11/8, followed by former Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard (4/1) and Lucien Favre (6/1), who last managed Borussia Dortmund.

Premier League winning manager Antonio Conte is fourth on the list at 8/1, followed by Roberto Martinez and Steven Gerrard – both at 10/1.

Former Luton Town manager Graeme Jones is 12/1, followed by Eddie Howe at 16/1.

Albion manager Graham Potter has odds of 20/1 to replace Steve Bruce.

Potter was appointed as Seagulls boss in 2019 to replace Chris Hughton.

Albion currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table after seven matches and have the second-best defensive record in the division, having conceded just five times this season.

Bruce has kept Newcastle United in the division in his two seasons at St James’ Park after replacing Rafa Benitez, but is yet to guide his side to a win this campaign.
