FILMING for the second series of ITV crime drama Grace is underway in a new location.

Film crews will be using Brookland Park car park in Lancing as a base today while they shoot new scenes for the show’s highly anticipated second series.

Adur and Worthing Councils confirmed that, due to the filming, the car park in Western Road will not be available to the public

In a statement on Facebook, a spokesman said: “The filming crew for the ITV adaptation of Peter James’ novels, Grace will be filming this Friday (October 1) and will be using the Brooklands Park car park.

“This does mean that the Brooklands Western Road car park will not be available to the public.”

Filming has taken place at various locations since filming resumed in the summer.

So far, film crews have been spotted in New Road, Brighton and at Rockwater on Hove seafront.

John Simm - whose television credits include Doctor Who and Strangers – will return to play Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in the forthcoming series.

The 51-year-old actor was spotted filming a scene in Brighton station in late August surrounded by masked crew members.

The drama follows Grace, a hard-working police officer who has given his life to the job.

However, his career has hit rock bottom and he is fixated by the disappearance of his wife, Sandy.

Speaking before the filming of series one, Peter James described Simm as the perfect actor to play his tenacious detective.

He said: “John Simm, who actually looks like the Roy Grace of my imagination, is inspired casting.

“With John in the lead, the brilliant scripting by Russell Lewis, and our wonderful production team, I’m confident that fans of my novels and of TV crime dramas in general will be in for a treat.”

The second series of Grace will be made up of three 120 minute films - Not Dead Enough, Dead Man’s Footsteps and Dead Tomorrow.

Series producer Kiaran Murray-Smith confirmed on Twitter that filming on Not Dead Enough had been completed and work on Dead Man’s Footsteps had started.

Alongside Simm, Richie Campbell and Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson have also been seen filming.
