KATIE Price has been handed a lifeline to avoid prison time after a car crash - she will once again be treated at the world famous Priory.
The former glamour model appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday following a crash on the B2135 near Partridge Green on Tuesday morning.
The 43-year-old pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
The chair of the bench Julie Hutton handed Price an interim driving ban, warning her: “We regularly send people to prison for driving whilst disqualified.”
Price was told that her sentence would be deferred on the condition that she have treatment at the Priory Centre, not commit any further offences and be banned from driving in the interim.
Ms Hutton said: “On that basis, Ms Price, you are free to go and good luck at the Priory.”
The Priory Group’s flagship hospital is the Priory Hospital in Roehampton.
The private health company offer rehab-style therapy for addiction, depression, anxiety and stress-related issues.
Many celebrities have taken up residency to treat gambling, sex, drugs, alcohol and computing addictions.
Previous celebrity guests at the Priory have included Ant McPartlin, Lily Allen, Paul Gascoigne, Kate Moss, Sinead O’Connor and Amy Winehouse.
Price previously checked into the centre in 2018 suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
The Priory group has more than 500 sites across the UK, with more than 7,000 beds.
Sentencing has been deferred until December 15 to allow her to have treatment at the Priory and speak to the probation service.
She was told she must also engage with the probation service so a report can be prepared.
Sussex Police said officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash around 6.20am on Tuesday.
"A woman, 43, was arrested on suspicion of driving while above the legal limit for alcohol and drugs, and has been taken to hospital to be checked over,” a spokesman said.
Following the incident, the Brighton-born celebrity told police “I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all”, the court heard.
A drugs wipe gave a positive reading for cocaine, prosecutor Debbie Jones said.
Defence solicitor Joe Harrington said Price has had “a lot of personal problems recently”.
“Currently she is in the process of bankruptcy proceedings so her house may be repossessed.
“So quite a lot going on in this lady’s life, a really difficult period.”
The mum-of-five has been banned from driving six times in the last ten years and is thought to be serving a driving ban and not due to get her licence back until October 13.
