A WOMAN accused of murdering her severely disabled son has been freed on bail until her trial in the new year.
Pembe Mehmetaliogullari, 47, was arrested on Friday, almost three years after the death of her son, Mustafa.
He was ten when he died after being admitted to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton on September 30, 2018, after being admitted for treatment three days earlier.
Mustafa and his mother had been living at Eastview Terrace, Sedlescombe, East Sussex before he was admitted to hospital.
Sussex Police said Mustafa was found to have drugs in his system which had not been prescribed to him.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police were informed and a post mortem and subsequent toxicology examination established that his death was due to administration of non-prescribed medication."
Mrs Mehmetaliogullari was granted bail at Lewes Crown Court. A national computer problem meant she could not appear by video in court.
Pembe Mehmetaliogullari, unemployed, from Hove, is expected to be tried at Lewes in May next year.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
