A UNIVERSITY is the host of a new Covid-19 mobile vaccination unit.
The University of Sussex will be the temporary location for the mobile vaccine hub between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Wednesday, September 22.
The unit will be stationed outside Pevensey 1.
The university campus also hosted the vaccination initiative on Tuesday, September 21.
The mobile vaccine unit is able to deliver 300 vaccinations per day.
In a statement, the University of Sussex said it “strongly encourages all students to get vaccinated to protect their campus community and those in the city”.
While some walk-up slots are available, students are encouraged to book an appointment to secure a slot.
Those who miss the opportunity to get vaccinated on campus are able to attend walk-in vaccination sessions at Brighton’s main vaccination centre in Churchill Square.
The former Topshop store has taken over from the Brighton Centre as the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust’s (SCFT’s) largest Covid-19 vaccination hub.
The Brighton Centre site opened in January, delivering up to 3,000 vaccinations a day during peak demand.
It was staffed by more than 150 SCFT workers and over 100 volunteers, every day since.
The team has delivered a total of over 250,000 first and second dose vaccinations at the centre.
It has now moved to former Topshop store with jabs offered to 16 and 17-year-olds.
