PEOPLE are being given the chance to get discounted solar panels installed on their homes – saving on energy bills and cutting carbon emissions.
Homeowners in Brighton and Hove have until September 28 to register for the second round of Solar Together Sussex.
Solar Together Sussex is a group-buying scheme, which brings households together to get high-quality solar panels at a competitive price.
The scheme is run in conjunction with councils across Sussex, and uses a group buying approach to secure significant savings on solar panel installations by accredited contractors.
Registration is free and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation.
Councillor Siriol Hugh-Jones, joint chairwoman of the housing committee at Brighton and Hove City Council, said: “We’re committed to our city becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
“Energy usage on the city’s homes is crucial to achieving this target. Installing solar PV panels can drastically cut carbon emissions and help save money on fuel bills.
“This is our second year of supporting Solar Together Sussex. A fair few residents have already benefitted from the scheme and I am grateful to those who have given me their feedback on how the scheme worked for them.
“I hope more city residents take advantage of this second round to look at the advantages renewable energy from solar panels can bring.”
For residents who already have solar panels, Solar Together Sussex can also help with the installation of a battery storage system to store surplus energy for use when it is needed later in the day.
Go to www.solartogether.co.uk/brightonandhove for more information and details about how to register.
When you register, you will need to provide some basic information about your roof, including its size and orientation, to find out whether your house is suitable for solar panels.
