A CANNABIS factory was discovered after police were called to an armed burglary.
Police were originally called after glass was heard smashing at a property in Dyke Road, Brighton, at about 4am on Tuesday, September 7.
A man carrying a knife was reportedly seen running away from the property, towards Queens Road.
Officers detained a 28-year-old man on suspicion of burglary. He has since been released under investigation.
At the Dyke Road property, police found a cannabis factory containing hundreds of plants and cultivation equipment.
It is estimated that there were six rooms in the property used for growing the plants, with about 50 plants growing in each room, according to police.
Officers were called to guard the scene while an electricity company was called to make the property safe.
Scene of crime officers were also called in to test for forensics at the address and to gather evidence.
All the plants and cultivation equipment have been seized.
An investigation is underway to trace suspects in connection with the production of cannabis.
Anyone with information regarding the burglary or cannabis factory is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote serial 171 of 07/09.
