A PAIR of children caused long delays on the A27 after they were spotted climbing Southwick Tunnel.
Motorists were faced with delays after the pair were seen climbing above the tunnel that sees thousands of drivers pass through it every day.
A picture taken from the scene shows an officer from Sussex Police confronting the pair as they stand above the tunnel entrance.
The image sparked anger from users on Twitter, with one calling the pair "doughnuts".
They wrote: "Oh dear, a couple of absolute doughnuts climbing over the Southwick tunnel."
A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Sussex Police were called to a report of children climbing on a hill above the A27 at the Southwick tunnel at 7.30pm on August 25.
"The youths were spoken to by an officer, who guided them back up the hill away from the dual carriageway soon afterwards."
