A NEW TV documentary is to focus on a lifeboat crew in the weeks following the death of two fishermen who lost their lives at sea.
The courageous actions of the Newhaven RNLI team who conducted a major sea search for the three-man crew of the Joanna C will feature on BBC show Saving Lives at Sea next week.
Robert Morley and Adam Harper lost their lives after their 45-foot scalloping vessel, registered in Brixham, sank in November last year.
Captain Dave Bickerstaff was pulled from the water by lifeboat crews, after he was found holding on to a lifebuoy almost four hours after the tragedy.
An episode of the BBC documentary will follow Newhaven RNLI as they respond to reports of another Brixham boat in trouble just one week after volunteers were involved in the search for the Joanna C.
Newhaven coxswain Lewis Arnold, who will feature in the episode, said: “We treat each and every service call with the same speed and focus.

“Some are of course tougher than others, but when the pagers go off, the crew have just one purpose and that’s to get the job done to the best of our ability.”
Lifeboat operations manager Roger Cohen said the series is a great way to showcase the lifesaving work of RNLI volunteers.
He said: “Without the generous support and donations from the public, we wouldn’t be able to save lives at sea and it’s great to be able to share what we do with our supporters from the comfort of their own home.”
Now in its sixth series, Saving Lives At Sea showcases the lifesaving work of the RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards from around the UK and Ireland.
The series will air on BBC Two on Tuesdays at 8pm, as well as being available on BBC iPlayer following broadcast.
Real rescue footage is accompanied by emotive interviews from the volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards alongside the people they rescue and their families.
The episode featuring Newhaven RNLI is set to air on Tuesday, August 31.
