DRAG artists will take to the stage in a special boat party to make up for Brighton Pride being cancelled.

Brighton Marina is set to be transformed into a glittering, plume-filled extravaganza this Sunday, with three well-known drag artists performing live, alongside two professional dance groups - The Sass Squad and ODC from Marina Studios.

The Drag'on Boat Party will be hosted by star of reality TV show Faking It Dave Lynn, who has entertained crowds in the city and across the UK for 30 years.

Dave said: “I’m really looking forward to hosting and the ability to perform in front of a home crowd.

"After all, this is Brighton and who doesn't love Brighton?

“It is going to be a really fun afternoon and I am really excited to be able to work with my fellow Drag artists.

Joining Dave will be Portia De Fosse, who has worked as a West End Performer and entertainer at the first DragCon UK, and Snow White Trash, who will be entertaining the crowds with sing-a-long numbers and hilarious quips.

Snow White Trash said: “Brighton Pride may be cancelled but Pride is all year round and I can’t wait to celebrate in the iconic Marina.

“The day will be filled with music, song and dance, and a lot of lipstick and false eyelashes.”

All three will be taking to the stage Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 5pm, with no tickets required to attend.

One number will see all three drag artists and the dancers singing and performing Glora Gaynor's hit song I Am What I Am, which has become known as a "gay anthem".

A spokeswoman for Brighton Marina said: “Brighton and Hove Pride is one of Europe’s biggest Pride Festivals attracting thousands of people from across the UK and, although sadly this could not go ahead due to it being a mass participation event, Brighton Marina is hoping to offer the community an opportunity to celebrate in another way.”

The event is one of many that have been taking place over the last few weeks celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in the city, following the cancellation of the main Pride event which would have taken place earlier this month.
