EPISODE TWO of Alex Polizzi’s ‘My Hotel Nightmare’ aired at her very own £2 million refurbished hotel in Alfriston on Thursday night.
The TV star and hospitality expert’s newest venture, The Star, which is from the 15th century, was bought by Alex and her mum, Olga, back in 2019 and required a lot of renovation.
Some of the work included fixing dodgy boilers, stripping mossy roofs as well as repairing old windows.
In last night’s episode, Alex’s hotel nightmare continued as she supervised the renovation work at the 37-bed hotel, only to discover the builders are running far behind schedule.
Alex and Olga also fear they will not be able to open in summer, so decide to move the opening to Easter which allows them to start renovating the bedrooms in the middle of the hotel.
Some of the most major work included demolishing the internal wall between ten existing rooms to create seven larger ones.
Speaking about their newest venture, Olga said: “My home is in this part of the world and I’ve always longed for the opportunity to open a hotel in Sussex.
“When The Star Inn came on the market, Alex and I were immediately interested in the project. We want it to be an integral part of the community and provide a welcoming environment for all, from walkers to opera goers.”
The renovation of the worn hotel started in December 2019, but was delayed due to the Covid pandemic.
Alex was not happy in last night’s episode, the second of the three part special, when she entered one of the newly decorated rooms.
She said: “They have to be taking the p*ss."
Alex got another member of staff to call the housekeeper up.
She then pointed at a lamp, adding: “I’m doing a room check and I see this, two lamps cant be placed facing each other.”
After years of inspecting hotels, #AlexPolizzi and her mother are opening their own.

While in one of the rooms, Alex stated that the rooms have been refurbished nicely but the bathrooms are a “pig’s ear”.
She added: “There’s nothing I’m going to be able to do about that until we finally redo these bedrooms properly. They are certainly good enough for opening.”
The Star, which finally reopened on June 14, offers rooms from £190 a night including breakfast. Extra beds for children cost £50, while cots come at no charge.
They also offer amenities for babies such as high chairs, bottle warmers and emergency nappies.
The hotel is dog friendly, with dogs allowed to stay for £25. The Star offers dog blankets and dog bowls within the price.
The final episode is being aired on Thursday 26 at 9pm on Channel 5, with the episode focusing on the new courtyard outside and more of the bedrooms.
