A FILM inspired by Mod culture in Brighton is to be released later this month.
The Pebble and The Boy features songs from The Jam and stars Patrick McNamee, Patsy Kensit and Stone Roses guitarist Mani.
Directed by Chris Green, the film tells the story of a boy who travels from Manchester to Brighton on a Lambretta scooter to scatter his dad’s ashes.
Peter Thomspon, director at Lightbulb Film Distribution, said: “Pebble is a British road movie with a big heart.
“Director and writer Chris Green lives and breathes everything Mod – and that really shows.
“From the music, the fashion and the scooters, he gives the audience a glimpse into his world.”
Famous landmarks including Brighton Palace Pier, the i360 and Madeira Drive are all featured in the film’s trailer.
Paul Weller, frontman of the Jam, is said to have given his “blessing” to the film and has granted permission for four of his songs to be used on its soundtrack.
The film will be released in cinemas nationwide from Friday, August 27 and will be available on demand later this year.
Frank Smith, managing director of Munro films, said: “What better way to spend the August bank holiday weekend than for audiences to join together in watching The Pebble and the Boy on the big screen.
“It’s fun, energetic and feel-good, all wrapped up in a great soundtrack.”
Pebble and The Boy is just the latest production to be filmed almost entirely in Brighton.
Earlier this year, One Direction star Harry Styles visited the city to shoot for the romantic drama My Policeman.
In June, a film crew was spotted shooting scenes inside Brighton Station.
Crews were seen working with several screens and lighting rigs, including a large green screen on one side of the station.
It is thought the crew were working on scenes for the feature film Vindication Swim, directed by the youngest film director in the UK, Brighton-born Elliott Hasler.
