A JAPANESE ice cream that has become an internet sensation is currently being given out for free.

Little Moons Big Summer Tour has arrived in New Road, Brighton and is offering its mochi ice cream for people to try.

The mochi ice cream van was in place today and will remain in the city tomorrow before continuing its tour to Bournemouth.

People who visit the van will be able to try out the ice cream that went viral online due to its unique design.

Little Moons are a Japanese-inspired dessert that consists of mini ice cream balls wrapped in a thin layer of rice flour dough called "mochi".

The ice cream van will stock its best-selling flavours - tropical passionfruit and mango, creamy coconut, and honey roasted pistachio.

There will also be new flavours for people to try such as Eton mess, candy floss and fish and chips - a potential Brighton favourite.

Visitors will also have a chance to win Little Moons merchandise or a free tub of ice cream by playing its spin the wheel competition.

Vivien and Howard Wong started little Moons in 2010 with the mission of being an un-ordinary company making extra-ordinary ice cream.

It took two years for them to perfect their mochi-making process - which they did by working with chefs and using quality ingredients to create the sweet treats.

Little Moons are free from artificial flavourings, colours and preservatives and are suitable for vegetarians.

If people miss out on the free ice cream bites, they are available from leading retailers such as Tesco, Ocado, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.
