A MAN has been arrested after a garden fire was deemed to be started deliberately.
Around 1am on Wednesday, August 4, police were requested to attend an address in Royal Sussex Crescent, Eastbourne, by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service following a fire in a garden.
The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported but it was thought to have been started deliberately.
Officers attended and after carrying out enquiries, arrested a 62-year-old man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
He has been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Pictures taken at the scene showed officers from Sussex Police investigating the incident.
Several police vans lined the road, while police took pictures of the crime scene.
A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area around that time, or who has any other information, is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 55 of 04/08."
