Co-op customers in Patcham will have a long wait to do their food shop as their store is set to close for refurbishment for a month.
The branch on Old London Road, which supports 18 jobs, is set to undergo a £750,000 makeover, taking place over four weeks.
The refurbished store will include an enhanced range of fresh, healthy products, meal deals, wines, everyday essentials and new self-service tills for added speed and convenience.
A spokesperson for the Co-op said: “We are delighted to have an opportunity to carry such a significant investment in our stores locally to better serve the needs of our community.
“We are working to develop the range, choice, products and added services to create a really compelling offer, conveniently.”
Customers still have a few weeks to grab their essentials before the store closes on August 28; it is due to re-open on September 30.
The store already features a new recycle unit for ‘soft’ plastics, as part of the Co-op’s recycling scheme for plastic bags and product wrapping. The initiative will be available in 2,300 of its stores by November.
The news comes after a recent renovation of their branch in Portland Road, Hove, a new Amazon parcel collections service added to the store, alongside new self-service checkouts.
