A COUNCIL is calling for residents to have their say on proposed changes to a parking scheme.
Brighton and Hove City Council have started a consultation on proposals that could see changes made to parking Zone J in Preston Circus, Brighton.
Parking Zone J uses a specific type of restriction, which protects the needs of residents and local businesses.
The current scheme was put in place after residents presented a petition to the environmental, transport and sustainability, committee in June 2018.

This allowed residents to park during the day and overnight within a reasonable walking distance of their homes.
However, it is now believed that Zone J has become too big following extensions to the scheme.
Since the extension of Zone J north of the railway line, residents have had parking difficulties, especially in the evenings.
The new scheme could see Zone J split into two separate schemes, J1 and J2.
The potential split in Zone J will be between Springfield Road and Ditchling Rise.
This potential change means that residents are now being asked if they agree that changes need to be made to parking controls in Zone J. The results of the consultation will be presented to the ETS on November 16.
If there is support for the zone to be split, then the council will consult with residents again on details of the proposed changes.
The results of that consultation will also be presented to the ETS.
For residents in Zone J who wish to take part in the consultation, they can fill out an online questionnaire at https://consultations.brighton-hove.gov.uk/parking/area-j-review/, or they can request a paper version of the questionnaire by calling 01273 290 510 and leaving a message with their name and address.
The questionnaire, which must be completed by September 6, will ask residents what they think is going well with the scheme and what is not going well with it.
