SPORTS retailer Decathlon is partnering with food app Too Good To Go in Brighton and Hove to tackle food waste in the city.
Customers of the app will be able to buy "Magic Bags" from Decathlon containing food that would have otherwise gone to waste.
The bags will feature a variety of surplus products, such as cereal and energy bars, worth at least £12 but available to buy on the app for just £3.99.
Their partnership in Brighton comes after a successful national trial - saving over seven tonnes of CO2 and roughly 3,000 Magic Bags from going to waste.
Paschalis Loucaides, UK managing director of Too Good To Go, said: “The Decathlon Magic Bags are already proving extremely popular and it’s great to be fighting food waste alongside a brand whose ethos aligns so closely with our own.
“Food waste accounts for eight per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and this is something we want to change.
“With partners like Decathlon on board, I know we’ll continue to take a huge bite of the problem.”
Founded in 2016, Too Good To Go rescues food waste from supermarkets, restaurants and bakeries and turns them into ‘magic bags’; the app has saved 82 million meals across 15 countries.
Magic Bags are also available from Decathlon’s store in Crawley through the Too Good To Go app.
