A HUGE music event on Brighton beach has been cancelled.  

On The Beach, a party on the seaside Madeira Drive, kicked off on Friday night headlined by Carl Cox, followed by performances by Chase & Status and more on Saturday.

Hordes of partygoers flocked to Brighton beach on the opening two days of festivities but the third and final day of the event has been cancelled.

Russell Haynes, of Concorde 2, said Sunday's event was cancelled "for reasons beyond our control."

In a statement shared on social media, On The Beach said: “Due to reasons beyond our control, we regret we have to cancel today’s On The Beach event.

“It is hugely devastating for us to have to cancel the 3rd sold out day of On The Beach after months of planning and two hugely successful sold out days on Friday and Saturday.

Earlier on Sunday, the opening of the event was delayed due to adverse weather conditions.

Russell was unable to provide any further detail as to the reasons behind the cancellation.

"We are extremely disappointed after two hugely successful events on Friday and Saturday that Sunday's sold out show has had to be cancelled," he added.

Pendulum, Hybrid Minds ft Tempza, Dimension, Friction ft Linguistics, Kyrist, Mollie Collins, Kaz B2B North Base and DJ Inter are due on stage on Sunday.

One would be partygoer said he and his friends had been looking forward to the event for months. 

"Totally gutted that organisers have cancelled the event," he said.

"We had been looking forward to it all weekend, so to find out it's not going ahead an hour before it's supposed to start is devastating."

A statement from Concorde 2 said the On The Beach Official After Party at the venue is still due to go ahead.

"The door times are moving to 8pm to give you more time to enjoy the night, plus we’re incredibly excited to announce that Hybrid Minds will now be playing."

Organisers said that noise levels will be monitored over the weekend to ensure they do not exceed "strict" limits given by the council.

After the event's closure, organisers said they will work with a waste management company for the clean-up operation for litter and waste.
