It came as no surprise to read of the i360’s financial problems once again. What I would like to know is when those responsible for this debacle are going to be held to account for their irresponsible actions of loaning £36.2 million of council funds based on a totally unrealistic report (bordering on fantasy!) predicting 750,000 visitors per annum.
Who prepared this report?
Another so-called report claims that Brighton and Hove will receive £640 million boost to the city’s economy. So please tell me how a so-called visitor attraction, that can barely achieve a half of the predicted number of visitors, can "boost" the economy by such a figure?
Irrespective of the Covid crisis, the i360 was failing and will never recover the costs as it is a one-visit attraction and the numbers required per day were thought up in Cloud Cuckoo Land.
So where are those councillors who approved this loan? Messrs Theobald, Kitkat, Morgan etc? Time to stand up and answer for your actions?
