CAMBER Sands is among the most beautiful walks in the UK, it has been revealed.
The golden beach near Rye is the 15th prettiest walk in the country, beating destinations including Ben Nevis, according to new research.
Meanwhile Birling Gap and Seven Sisters were named in 20th place.
The study by outdoor experts at Millets looked at TripAdvisor reviews which include the words “beautiful”, “pretty” and “picturesque” to pinpoint the most beautiful walks in Britain.
Arthur’s Seat, which is in the heart of Edinburgh, was deemed the prettiest walk in the country.
It is about a mile from the city centre, the walk to the summit is a fairly easy one and rewards you with panoramic views of Scotland’s capital and beyond and over 1,600 people have described it as either “beautiful”, “pretty” or “picturesque”.
In second place was a route that allows you to walk in the footsteps of giants, the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.
The causeway is an Unesco World Heritage site and draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to walk the natural stepping stones
In third place was Clifton Suspension Bridge, which spans the Avon Gorge from Bristol to Somerset.
The bridge is a Grade I listed building and while it’s an impressive sight in its own right, the walk across it gives incredible views over the gorge and the River Avon.
Kiera Baxter, Millets marketing executive, said: "Arthurs Seat is a stunning walk, offering 360-degree views across the city of Edinburgh and the Lothians.
"With many sights to view along the way, such as St Anthony’s Chapel, the Salisbury Crags and Duddingston Loch, it is no surprise that the research has found the walk to be the most beautiful in the UK.
“With several routes available, a walk to Arthur's Seat is suitable for every level of walker. For the easiest ascent, we recommend climbing from the east where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch.
"If you’re looking for a challenge head across the grass to the end of Salisbury Crags, where a steep path leads up Nether Hill.
“Wherever you choose to walk, it is essential that you do so responsibly in order to maintain the route’s beauty.
"We recommend avoiding car journeys where possible, stick to public footpaths and ensure you leave no trace of being there, taking all litter away with you.
“It’s also essential to prepare appropriately for every walk you embark on.
"Plan your route prior to setting off, pack plenty of water and snacks to keep you energised throughout the day and wear sensible, weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for the route.”
