A GROUP of “mystic” meerkats have become celebrities for their apparent ability to accurately predict the outcome of football matches.
The meerkats at Drusillas Park in Alfriston have correctly forecast the result of England’s last two Euro 2020 games, and they have now plumped for the Three Lions to beat Denmark in tonight’s semi-final.
Keepers gave the mystic mob two buckets of food – one draped in an England flag and another dressed in a flag of Denmark– and were tasked with choosing which one to eat from.
Meerkats- Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Tamu, Tyson and new pups Kane and Sterling- had a little kick around with the football to settle their nerves before the big prediction.
The buckets were put down in the sand and as soon as the whistle was blown, keepers said the all-knowing creatures were feeling confident and headed straight for the England bucket.
There was no sitting on the sidelines and the meerkats hit their stride far faster than in previous predictions.
New father Tyson really made his feelings known and pulled down the England bucket and got right in.

The team at the park said they are very much hoping that their meerkats can score a hat trick of correct predictions.
Head Keeper Gemma Romanis said: “We’re all very excited to see what England can do against Denmark and all of our keepers are getting behind the team and hoping they can make the final.
“The meerkat group seem to enjoying their new found fame and mealworm snacks.
“They get excited before we even set up the football- themed enrichment activity for them.
“All the animals at the Park benefit from physical and mental stimulation and this is perfect for them.”
“We’re convinced the group are on a roll with their psychic predictions and it’ll be a win for England at Wembley on Wednesday, and we’ll be in the final.”
